It’s been five days since I put this book down. Five days since I felt my world change. Five days since I felt like my entire being went from what I thought was living, to wanting to do better. Be better. Five days since I took a look at my life and realized that I have it pretty darn good.
There come times in a blogger’s life where you are guided in a direction you fear to follow. Reading a book your not quite sure you’re ready for. A book that you just know will change you. I haven’t found many of those in my reading life. Maybe 10 out of hundreds of books. Yes, I love many books but finding those that shake me to my core? Not as easy to find.
Enter Into the Light by L.B Simmons.
I honestly have taken a few days to let this all sink in. I spoke to L.B during and after reading this book and even then I found it incredibly difficult to explain to her how this book made me feel. Without it, I feel lost. Depressed even and in the back of my mind, it’s still there, yelling at me. Telling me to come back and read it again. Maybe I will. But right now, I’m trying to come down from what was one of the most extraordinary journeys I have ever been on as a reader.
“I think some people are just inexplicably bonded. Drawn by forces beyond their own comprehension, they have no choice but to gravitate toward one another. Destined by fate to keep crossing paths until they finally get it right”
Aubrey Miller died. She died inside when she lost her entire family. She has spent her life since then, blaming herself for their deaths and has chosen to let Aubrey go. Raven is the ‘alter ego’ she has created. Raven is the person who Aubrey believes is protecting the rest of the world from getting close to her true self, in hopes of saving their lives. Raven is closed off, dark and unemotional. That barrier she hopes will deter people from ever wanting to get close to her. She thinks this will save them, but in the process, has lost herself.
This is the powerful story of a young girl’s fight to keep those around her alive by sacrificing herself, her happiness and burring her former life in order to protect the few people she has left. When unexpected friendships are formed and her past brings back the emotions she locked away many years ago, Raven fights to keep them hidden away for fear that the curse she believes took her family, will hit again.
“You know, if the sun and the moon were to collide, it would set off a cataclysmic reaction of epic proportions. Are you ready to have your world completely obliterated?”
This story will consume you. The romance is just beautiful. It will leave you with not a single tear left to cry. It will change you in ways you never realized. I truly believe that this is one of the most incredible books I have ever read. L.B Simmons’ flawless storytelling will leave you breathless. It will keep you on the edge of your seat while it takes hold of your heart and doesn’t let go.
Each character has the perfect role in this story. They really mean something, you know? They’re not just fillers, or people that just come and go for the sake of conversation. Each and every character has their own story, has an impact on Aubrey/Raven’s story and they all shine incredibly bright.
There is something for everyone in this story and I really recommend you all read it. <3
