“Tweet was my heart, my soul, and my purpose. She was my everything.”
I just want to start off by saying how much I adore Alison G. Bailey. I read Book #1 Present Perfect about a year ago and fell in love. Although Presently Perfect is book #1 from Noah’s POV, Alison has written it in a way where you don’t really miss a thing so if you are just starting with this series, I really don’t think you need to read Present Perfect. I did though and I think I appreciated Noah’s POV a little more, as having Amanda’s POV first was great, but it’s not necessary. As I read Present Perfect such a long time ago, I couldn’t remember the smaller details so it was nice to rekindle the love for this book all over again.
Amanda and Noah spend a lot of time ‘not being together’ (as a couple), so it really feels like two different stories, even though it’s based on the same one. Alison has done a wonderful job jumping into tNoah’s head and I am so glad to have been able to experiences this story all over again.
“There are two sides to every story and I wouldn’t trade our sides for anything in the world.”
For those who have read Present Perfect you know and understand Amanda (Tweet). You know that Noah adores Amanda and wants to be with her from a young age and you also understand why Amanda wants to keep things the way they are. In Presently Perfect you really get to understand Noah. Go through everything he does and it’s written so well.
This is definitely a ‘friends to lovers’ story, but it’s full of angst. I just need to point that out. My heart hurt so much throughout this story but know that it really is beautiful. It comes full circle and it does have a wonderful ending. Noah and Tweet spend a lot of time finding their feet in a friendship that spans an entire lifetime. Working out their happy medium without crossing that friendship line. But, lines do get crossed and things get complicated. Hearts are broken (including mine) but I promise you, it’s all totally worth it!!
“I can’t be around you right now. It hurts too much, because I am so completely and desperately in love with you, Tweet.”
Oh my heart!!
This is definitely a story I wish I could experience for the first time again, but having that time gap between book #1 and book #3 was a great way to ‘forgot’ some of what happened and definitely brought back some of the same emotions I felt reading Present Perfect. I also want to note that this was most definitely an ugly cry book. So pack a box of tissues and prepare yourself for a wonderful ride. I absolutely love these books. I think fans of The Sweet Gum Tree and Don’t Let Go will love this book!
